A map area calculator measures the size of a shape you draw on a map. Click around the outline of a field, building footprint, land plot, or any region, and the tool computes the enclosed area. It is a fast way to estimate acreage, square footage, or land size without survey equipment, and it reports the result in several units at once.
The tool shows area in square kilometres, hectares, acres, and square feet so it fits both metric and imperial workflows. One hectare is 10,000 square metres, roughly 2.47 acres. One acre is about 4,047 square metres. Use hectares and acres for land and agriculture, and square feet or square metres for buildings and roofs.
Each click drops a corner of your shape. Once you have three or more corners we close the polygon and compute its area using a geodesic, spherical-excess formula, so the result stays accurate over large regions. The measurement runs entirely in your browser. For programmatic area, boundary, and enrichment data, the MapAtlas API exposes geospatial endpoints.
