Why We Built MapAtlas
MapAtlas was born from a simple frustration: developers and businesses were paying Google prices they could not predict, routing queries through US infrastructure they could not control, and navigating GDPR compliance they could not verify. Brent van der Heiden, Co-Founder and CEO, saw this firsthand while building MapMetrics, a decentralized navigation platform that proved location data could be owned by its users rather than extracted from them.
